Abstract

In Recent years, the heritage has witnessed broad interest, that led us to illuminate the symbolism of the pigeon in Coptic art and its reflection in heritage”. The purpose of the study is to recognize the symbolic meaning of the pigeon in Coptic art. How did the pigeon become a distinctive bird in the Coptic artist's work? The reason behind the pigeon’s repetition in coptic art. Pigeon are mentioned in the Bible as a symbol, such as in Annunciation and Holy Baptism, and as a bird in Noah's story.
Thus, the study has employed an analytical-descriptive methodology to describe the pigeon in Coptic Heritage by referring to different tangible heritage models on which the pigeon appears in various forms of Coptic art whether on textile, stone, pottery, murals, or icons.
Finally, it was mentioned that the pigeon is associated with models of Intangible heritage. It has been clearly appeared in various hymns and virgin's appearances worldwide in the form of a pigeon. It is necessary to protect this heritage that link the past and the present.
