The Scientific Journal of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Alexandria University adheres to a Double-Blind Review policy. The peer review process follows these stages:
- Submission of the Research
A digital version of the research is submitted as a Microsoft Word document according to the journal’s template. All research data must be uploaded on the journal's website, which is hosted on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank’s journal platform.
- Preliminary Review
The research undergoes an initial review by the Editorial Manager to ensure:
- Relevance to the Journal's Scope: If the research topic does not align with the journal’s areas of interest, an email of apology is sent to the author.
- Compliance with Formatting Guidelines: If the research does not meet the formatting requirements specified in the journal's template, the author is notified via email and asked to adhere to these guidelines. The revised submission must be resubmitted within a maximum of two weeks.
- Plagiarism and Similarity Check
- All submitted research papers are subject to plagiarism detection using the iThenticate software at Alexandria University’s Digital Library Unit before undergoing the review process. The total similarity percentage must not exceed 25%, and the similarity from any single source must not exceed 15%.
- Abstracts of theses are exempt from this requirement, as all theses are already examined before degree conferral.
- Scientific Review
- Research papers are reviewed through a double-blind electronic process via the journal’s website by a specialized scientific committee covering various disciplines of the journal.
- The research is sent electronically, without the author’s name, to two reviewers (from the same university/faculty or externally) listed on the journal’s reviewer database. The reviewers are selected based on their precise expertise in the research topic.
- Each reviewer is required to submit a report within 20 days of receiving the research. The final decision, based on the reviewers’ reports, is communicated to the author by the editors. The period between receiving the research and the decision-making by the journal about its publication should not exceed one month.
- If both reviewers approve the research without modifications, it is accepted for publication and scheduled for inclusion in the next available issue, where possible.
- If the reviewers or either of them recommend modifications, the research is returned to the author to implement the required changes. The revised version must be submitted within two weeks to proceed with the publication process. The updated version is re-sent to the reviewer to confirm the corrections, particularly if substantial modifications were required.
- If one reviewer rejects the research, a third reviewer is assigned to provide a decisive opinion. If the third reviewer accepts the research, the author must address all the comments and observations from all reviewers.
- If the research is ultimately rejected by the review panel, the journal administration sends a rejection letter to the author, including a detailed explanation of the reasons for rejection.
