Architectural forms and Elements in the Coptic censer from the Fourth to the Tenth Century

Abstract

The Censers existed from the prehistoric ages, the ancients Egyptians had many uses to the censers, they use the censers in the religious rituals and in the ordinary life and in the funeral rituals.
The Copts contain this ideal heritage so they use the censers in religious rituals and in the ordinary life and in perfuming the Tomps of them dead relatives.
The censers appears in many forms in the Coptic arts like mural painting, Coptic steads, in the exiles and icons.
The Study included censer which founded in Egypt from the fourth century to the tenth century.
The study aim to identify the Coptic censer and the symbolism of the censer in Christianity, then we were studied the Coptic censer in form of architectural structure like domed chapel censer and censer in form of church with prymedical roof, then we were studied the architectural motives in the Coptic censers like columns, Bustle volute, Crenellations , domes, alters.
